ALLENTOWN-ROBBINSVILE, NJ– When I received a text message this afternoon at 2:34 p.m. that there was a football game at Allentown at 7 p.m. on Wednesday night against Robbinsville my first thought it was a mistake or possibly a JV game since most games are Friday nights or Saturdays. Yes, it is for real and it is a “play-in” game to solve a power points issue between Allentown and Robbinsville football teams.
What happened is that Robbinsville in their division went 9-0 and a rule stating any team going 8-0 or better eligible for a playoff spot. Allentown had enough power points to earn their spot creating the conflict for the same spot. To solve the issue the NJSIAA New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association decided on the “play-in” game by expanding the bracket a game.
The winner of the “play-in” game will play at Wall Township at 1 p.m. on Sunday.
