Cardboard Compactor Fire At Amazon Causes Building Evacuation and Minor Injuries

ROBBINSVILLE, NJ (MERCER)–Yesterday, March 7, 2020, the Robbinsville Fire Department was dispatched for a building fire at the Amazon warehouse on New Canton Way at 9:03 a.m. Mutual Aid was summoned from numerous surrounding departments including Hamilton Township Fire Department, Hightstown and Allentown. Firefighters located the fire in a cardboard compactor and quickly extinguished the fire using an 1 3/4″ hand line.

The smoke from the fire filled the warehouse and firefighters were able to evacuate the smoke using the building’s skylights. EMS evaluated three employees with minor smoke inhalation and transported one to the local hospital for treatment. Firefighters remained on scene for two hours to overhaul the scene while the Robbinsville Township Fire Marshal investigated the fire. Currently the fire is still under investigation.

– Millstone – Assunpink Wildlife Management Area
Ocean County
– Eagleswood – Sahara Sands
– Jackson – Colliers Mills Wildlife Management Area

DIVISION C

Cape May County
– Upper – Belleplain State Forest
– Upper – Peaslee Wildlife Management Area
Cumberland County
– Vineland – Peaslee Wildlife Management Area
– Maurice River – Peaslee Wildlife Management Area
