US Marshals Arrest 2nd Suspect In South Brunswick Shooting, Faces 1st Degree Attempted Murder

SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ (MIDDLESEX)–Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone and Chief Raymond J. Hayducka of the South Brunswick Police Department announced today that a Township man has been arrested and charged in the shooting which took place Saturday in the vicinity of the Royal Oaks Apartments.
Jahmil Alvarez, 19, of the Monmouth Junction section of South Brunswick was arrested last night and is charged with first degree attempted murder, second degree aggravated assault, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and unlawful possession of a weapon; both second degree crimes.
The South Brunswick Police responded to the shooting which took place in the vicinity of the Royal Oaks Apartments, located at 200 Henderson Road in the Monmouth Junction section in South Brunswick, on July 11, 2020, at approximately 3:59 pm. An 18-year-old Monmouth Junction man was taken to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital and was treated for gunshot wounds.

Alvarez will be held at the Middlesex County Corrections Center pending a Detention Hearing.
As is the case with all criminal defendants, the charges against Alvarez are merely accusations and he is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
