PLAINSBORO, NJ (MIDDLESEX)–Around 10 pm., the Plainsboro Fire Department was dispatched to 660 Plainsboro Road for a fire in the Cake Walk Bakery. Chief 49 reported a column of smoke in the air prior to arrival and called for a full first alarm. When Chief 49 arrived he reported a heavy smoke condition in a store in the center of the shopping center. Smoke was pushing from vents on the roof and no viability in the store due to smoke.
The first arriving fire apparatus laid a 5 inch supply line and pulled a 1 3/4″ line to start knocking down the fire that was mostly in the kitchen area of the store. Units reported darkening the fire down in about 10 minutes of dispatch and bulk of the fire was knocked down in about 15 minutes. Fire was declared under control in about 25 minutes.
Additional fire apparatus from Monroe Township Fire Department, East Windsor Fire Company, West Windsor Fire Company, Kendall Park-South Brunswick, and Princeton Fire Department were all on scene. Additional crews searched the attached stores for extension.

EDISON, NJ (MIDDLESEX)–Sources tell MidJersey.News that there is a chemical spill creating a gas cloud in the area of 340 Meadow Road. The fire department has called for multiple hazardous materials teams one patient has been transported to RWJ Hospital in New Brunswick.
Edison Township Police Department is alerting residents by NIXLE to “Shelter In Place” and “Close All Windows And Doors” and that further instructions will follow once situation is assessed.

ROOSEVELT, NJ (MONMOUTH)–A car overturned in front of Roosevelt Borough Hall, 33 N Rochdale Avenue (Route 571) around 3:15 p.m. The New Jersey State Police, Millstone Township Fire Department and RWJ EMS responded, the driver was out of the vehicle on arrival.
The New Jersey State Police shut down the roadway and traffic was detoured in the area until the vehicle could be towed.
There was not update on the condition of the driver but a “trauma alert” was called while the ambulance transported the person to the Trauma Center at Capital Health Regional Medical Center in Trenton.
ROBBINSVILLE, NJ (MERCER)–Around 3:15 the Robbinsville Township Fire Department and EMS were sent to I-195 West Bound at 7.5 mile marker near Exit 7 for an accident. Another Capital Health ambulance from Allentown arrived prior and assessed the situation and reported three patients that do not want transport to the hospital. The accident blocked a lane and backed up traffic at least 5 miles well into Upper Freehold Township until the roadway was cleared. No further information was available about the accident.
This minor accident in Robbinsville backed up traffic for at least 5 miles in the West bound direction this afternoon. Three patients did not want transport to the hospital.

TRENTON, NJ (MERCER)–Trenton EMS, Trenton Fire and Capital Health Paramedics responded to 1595 Lamberton Road at the Yacht Club for a “Jet Ski” accident. Around 7:15 pm it was reported that the person driving the personal watercraft “hit a wall” and was located in the parking lot of the yacht club. The victim was transported to the Trauma Center at Capital Health Regional Medical Center and a “trauma alert” was called for their condition. No other information is available at this time.
TRENTON, NJ (MERCER)–The Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office confirms that Vernetta McCray, 39, was pronounced dead. The shooting occurred in a scene that has become all too common in the City of Trenton, she was on her porch and became a victim of a yet another drive by shooting on Friday night.
According from a statement by the Prosecutor’s Office “Trenton police responded to the area of the 300 block of Walnut Street last night around 8:50 pm after receiving a Shot Spotter activation for more than 20 rounds fired. While searching for a scene, they discovered an adult female on the porch of a Hampton Avenue residence bleeding from her head.”
She was transported by Trenton EMS and Capital Health Paramedics to The Trauma Center At Capital Health Regional Medical Center where she died Saturday night.

This tragedy is yet another reminder of the toll that senseless gun violence takes on our communities. Back on June 3, 2020 City Council President Kathy McBride said at a press conference on another shooting involving children: ” This is just tragedy upon tragedy in this city. Enough Is Enough! I had all I can stand and as a parent I do not want to put up with it any longer, if you want to part of a solution lets sit down and come up with some ideas.”
Back on May 18, 2020 Mayor W. Reed Gusciora condemned an outbreak of violence over that weekend and pledged further police enforcement to address fears of escalating conflict in neighborhoods across the City. “Across urban America we see all too often that guns are indiscriminately used to spark neighborhood violence. Since Trenton is not immune to these events, our police department is working closely with state and county agencies to curb these unlawful incidents.”
