Trenton Man Arrested for Saturday Night Stabbing Homicide in the City

TRENTON, NJ (MERCER)–A Trenton man has been arrested and charged with Saturday’s homicide of Daniel Alvaranga, Mercer County Prosecutor Angelo J. Onofri reported.

Allen Q. Brookins, 28, of East State Street, is charged with murder and weapons offenses.  He was taken into custody Thursday evening by members of the U.S. Marshals NY/NJ Regional Fugitive Task Force. The prosecutor’s office has filed a motion to detain Brookins pending trial. 

The charges are the result of an investigation by the Mercer County Homicide Task Force.  At approximately 9:50 p.m. on Saturday evening, November 28, police responded to a report of male stabbed in the 300 block of Brunswick Avenue.  Upon arrival, they located the victim, 33-year-old Alvaranga, in the intersection of Brunswick Avenue and Southard Street.  He was transported to the hospital and pronounced dead a short time later.

Despite having been charged, every defendant is presumed innocent until found guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
