HAMILTON TOWNSHIP (MERCER)— A two car collision on I-295 Southbound in the area of exit 62 sent a pedestrian to the hospital around 11:00pm Sunday.
MidJersey.News reporter Tyler Eckel rolled up on the scene directly after the wreck, and assisted with scene lighting to make oncoming cars aware of the hazard until State Police arrived.
Witnesses say a Taxi driver was standing outside of his Taxi in the right shoulder after his vehicle broke down, when a Nissan traveling Southbound struck the pedestrian and his Taxi.
The Southbound lanes of I-295 were shut down for a short period of time.
The driver of the Taxi was transported to Capital Health Regional Medical Center with reported serious injuries. The driver of the Nissan was not injured.
Hamilton Fire Department, New Jersey State Police, Robert Wood Johnson EMS, and NJDOT responded to the scene.
State Police are investigating.
