TOMS RIVER, NJ (OCEAN)–Police told MidJersey.news that on Thursday, July 1, 2021, at approximately 1:20 a.m., police and fire units were dispatched to the Mathis Bridge for a reported male that jumped into the bay. Officer Bartoshek threw the victim a life ring, which he refused. Toms River Fire company responded with their boat, along with officers Pinto and Elwood. The officers pulled the victim from the water and he was transported via ambulance to Community Medical Center for evaluation.
