Robbinsville’s Ross Colton Clinches Stanley Cup For Tampa Bay Lightning With Only Goal In Game 5

TAMPA, FL — Robbinsville’s Ross Colton scored tonight’s only goal against the Montreal Canadiens in Game 5 of the Stanley Cup Finals clinching the cup for the Tampa Bay Lightning. Tampa’s David Savard passed to Ross Colton and scored the game’s only goal at 13:27 in the second period.

Ross’s name will be engraved on the Stanley Cup the oldest existing trophy to be awarded to professional sports franchises in North America. The Stanley Cup championship team is allotted 100 days during off-season to pass around the Cup. Usually each member of the team is allowed to retain the cup for a day with a official “cup handler”
