On Monday October 11, 2021 at 6:38 a.m., the Lawrence Township Police Department Communications Center received a telephone call from a driver stating that he believes that he observes a person down in the roadway in the area of Route 1 and Bakers Basin Road. On patrols arrival, a fatality was discovered in the roadway with a pedestrian struck. As a result, the roadway was shut down so that an investigation could be completed.
At this time, the motor vehicle crash is still under investigation. The identity of the pedestrian is unknown. Detective Joseph Radlinsky of the Lawrence Twp. Police Department is heading the investigation with assistance from Detectives from the Mercer County Prosecutors Office Fatal Motor Vehicle Crash Unit. LAWRENCE TOWNSHIP, NJ (MERCER)–The Lawrence Township Police Department and EMS responded to the intersection of Route 1 North Bound at Bakers Basin Road for a reported pedestrian accident around 6:45 a.m. Upon arrival of Police and EMS it was reported that it was a fatal accident. Lawrence Township Police and the Mercer County Prosecutors Office Serious Collision Response Team (SCRT) was at the scene investigating.
Since Route 1 was closed for the accident investigation traffic was backed up over three miles into Trenton. Continue to avoid the area until the investigation is completed.
