Robbinsville, NJ (MERCER) – Today, employees at the Amazon Fulfillment Center in Robbinsville and local veterans service organizations hosted a flag raising ceremony and coin ceremony in honor of Veterans Day.
The flag raising program was kicked off with brief remarks in honor of Veterans Day by Branden Long, a United States Army Veteran and Senior Human Resources Assistant for Amazon.
Branden Long said the following:
“I appreciate all the sacrifices made by all those who have served, as well as the family members and loved ones who support our military. Although this flag represents the Warriors@Amazon, Veterans Day is for all of you. Thank you for your service.”
Following Branden’s remarks, the National Anthem was played and the flags of the New Jersey, Warriors@Amazon (employee resource group supporting veterans and their families), and the United States were raised.
In the afternoon, a coin ceremony was held honoring local veterans and Amazon employees who served in the United States armed forces. Awarded through a handshake, a coin is often use as a token of appreciation. At the conclusion of the coin ceremony, Amazon presented the New Jersey Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Luddie Austin, the State Commander of the New Jersey Veterans of Foreign Wars, said the following as part of today’s ceremony:
“I thank you for continuing to answer that call. And the VFW will always be there for you. To any eligible veteran, I extend a membership to you today. If you choose, we hope you will join a grateful organization and help us continue our mission. Thank you, Amazon, I do salute you.”
