16-Year-Old Trenton, NJ, Teen Killed in Philadelphia on New Year’s Day

PHILADELPHIA, PA– Miguel Torres of Philadelphia Police Department’s, Office of Media Relations and Public Affairs told MidJersey.News that on Saturday January 1, 2022 at 1:48 a.m., 22nd District Police Officers responded to a 9-1-1 call in the 1600 Block of Cecil B. Moore Avenue for a shooting. (Near Temple University) Police found five victims shot.

A 16-year-old black male suffered gunshot wounds to the head. 22nd District Police Officers transported the victim to Temple University Hospital where he was pronounced at 1:56 a.m.   The victim was later identified as Byron Thompson of the Unit block of Eastfield Avenue, Trenton, New Jersey.  

Victim #2- A 27-year-old black male suffered gunshot wounds to the stomach and right thigh.  Temple Police Officers transported the victim to Temple University Hospital where he is listed in critical condition.  

Victim #3– A 17 year old black female suffered multiple gunshot wound to the left leg.  Temple Police Officers transported the victim to Temple University Hospital where she is listed in stable condition.  

Victim #4- A 27-year-old black male suffered gunshot wound to the left leg.   Temple Police Officers transported the victim to Temple University Hospital where he is listed in stable condition.  

Victim #5- A 24-year-old black female suffered gunshot wound to the groin.   Temple Police Officers transported the victim to Temple University Hospital where she is listed in stable condition.

The scene was held, no weapon recovered and no arrest. The investigation is active and ongoing with Homicide Detectives
