Burlington Man Arrested That Robbed Ace Hardware in Hamilton Township

HAMILTON TOWNSHIP, NJ (MERCER)–Hamilton Police say that on April 7, 2022 at approximately 11:50 a.m., Officers were detailed to the Ace Hardware on the 300 block of Route 33 on a report of a robbery.  It was reported a black male wearing a gray jacket, gray pants, black facemask, and a dark knitted hat approached the register and passed a note to the cashier while keeping his other hand in his pocket.  The note stated the male had a gun in his pocket aimed at her and to give him the money.  The cashier told the male that she did not have the key to the register and the male told her he had a gun in his pocket and would shoot her.  The cashier began to scream at him and he fled the store, entered a vehicle in the parking lot and drove away making a right hand turn onto Whitehorse-Mercerville Road.

An investigation in coordination with Mount Laurel Police Department identified a suspect in the Robbery.  On April 12, 2022 Hamilton Police in collaboration with the New Jersey State Police, Delran Police Department, Willingboro Police Department, Mount Holly Police Department, Mount Laurel Police Department and Cinnaminson Police Department obtained a search warrant for the suspect’s vehicle and residence which was located in Burlington, New Jersey.  The suspect was located at his residence where he was placed under arrest. 

The arrestee was identified as Michael Swift, 70, of Burlington.  He was charged with Robbery.
