Ewing Police Officer Suffers Smoke Inhalation In Browning Avenue House Fire While Rescuing Dog

EWING TOWNSHIP, NJ (MERCER)–Ewing Police reported, that on Thursday, June 2, 2022 at approximately 9:01 a.m., Ewing Police Dispatch was notified of a smoke condition coming from a residence on Browning Avenue. Responding officers encountered heavy smoke coming from 109 Browning Avenue. Officers were able to confirm that all residents had evacuated prior to police arrival. The homeowner advised police that there was a dog that was still inside the residence. Assisted by patrol, Detective Julia Caldwell #190 entered the residence and was able to rescue the dog. During the rescue, Detective Caldwell suffered smoke inhalation and was treated on scene by Ewing EMS and Capital Health Paramedics prior to being transported to the hospital for treatment and observation. Ewing Fire Department stations 30, 31, and 33 responded and extinguished the fire with the assistance of Trenton Fire Department Ladder 1 and Hamilton Fire Department Squad 12. Ewing Township Fire Marshal Mike Nelson conducted the initial investigation and has initially deemed the fire non-suspicious. There were no other injuries reported. The displaced residents were offered assistance through the American Red Cross.  





Prosecutor’s Office Identifies 16-Year-Old Victim In Last Night’s Fatal Stabbing In Trenton

TRENTON, NJ (MERCER)–The Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office has identified a 16-year-old as the victim in last night’s stabbing on Beatty Street.

The Mercer County Homicide Task Force and the Trenton Police Department are investigating a fatal stabbing that occurred Wednesday evening in Trenton, Mercer County Prosecutor Angelo J. Onofri reported.

At approximately 9:30 p.m. on June 1, 2022, Trenton police responded to a call for a male stabbed in the back in the 800 block of Beatty Street.  Upon arrival, officers located the victim in the street suffering from multiple stab wounds.  He was transported to Capital Health Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced dead a short time later.  The victim has been identified as Dreiby Osorio, 16, of Trenton.

Tractor Trailer Crash Closes I-195 In Hamilton Township, Traffic Backed Up For Miles

June 2, 2022

HAMILTON TOWNSHIP, NJ (MERCER)–Around 7:00 a.m. a tractor trailer overturned on I-195 East Bound between Route 130 Exit 5 and Yardville Hamilton Square Exit 3 spilling its contents and closing the roadway. Hamilton Township Fire Department, RWJ EMS and Paramedics responded to the scene.

As of 8:17 a.m. Traffic west bound is backed over 5 miles to Upper Freehold Township-Allentown Exit 8 and in the east bound direction from I-295 is a 4 mile traffic backup. Avoid travel in the area if possible.

Stabbing Death Reported In Trenton

June 2, 2022

TRENTON, NJ (MERCER)–Trenton Police Department Spokesperson, Detective Lieutenant Bethesda Stokes stated that at 9:36 p.m. last night June 1, 2022, Trenton Police responded to a stabbing at 850 Beatty Steet. Upon arrival Trenton Police found a victim stabbed three times in the back in front of 850 Beatty Street. Trenton EMS, Capital Health Paramedics and Trenton Firefighters responded for EMS treatment. The victim was transported to Captial Health Regional Medical Center, EMS tried lifesaving efforts and CPR and trauma alert was called but the victims was pronounced deceased later at the hospital.
