JAMESBURG, NJ (MIDDLESEX)–Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone announced that a Jamesburg man was found guilty by a Jury on June 1, 2022, after a two-week trial for the killing of two men in the borough of Jamesburg for a crime that occurred on November 4, 2019.
Jaree Kitchen, 24, was convicted of the murder of his father, Clifford Kitchen Jr., 53 and Gregory Fisher, 53, both from Jamesburg. Kitchen was also found guilty of aggravated arson, possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, two counts of desecrating human remains and tampering with evidence related to the murders.
During a 2-week trial that began on May 16, 2022, Middlesex County Assistant Prosecutor Amber Gibbs and Middlesex County Assistant Prosecutor Caitlin Lavery presented evidence and testimony showing that Kitchen had recently returned to Jamesburg from Georgia to live with his father, Clifford Kitchen Jr., but soon after his arrival the father and son began having significant issues. This erupted into a physical altercation that resulted in Jaree Kitchen fatally stabbing both his father and another resident of the home, Gregory Fisher to death on November 4, 2019. On November 6, 2019, in an effort to destroy and cover up the murders that occurred within the home, Jaree Kitchen set the residence of 7 Sheridan Street on fire.
The investigation was led by Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office Sergeant Deon McCall and Sergeant Kevin Wilson, Detective Sergeant Jason Muller and Detective Jim Dennis of the Jamesburg Police Department.
Sentencing is currently scheduled in New Brunswick, on October 28, 2022, before Superior Court Judge Thomas J. Buck.
