Multiple Injuries Reported When Boat Runs Aground In Toms River, NJ

A total of eight occupants were on board when a boat ran aground and ejected three of them into the water. Of the eight occupants five were injured, one serious, one moderate and three with minor injuries.

TOMS RIVER, NJ (OCEAN)–New Jersey State Police Trooper Charles Marchan told MidJersey.News that Troopers responded August 14, 2022, at 9:04 p.m. to a vessel crash at Middle Sedge, Toms River, Ocean County.

Based on preliminary investigation the vessel ran aground on Middle Sedge, Barnegat Bay. There was a total of eight occupants on board and three were ejected. The vessel was being operated by John P. Boyle III, a 58-year-old male from Bedminster, N.J. who sustained moderate injuries. Three occupants sustained no injuries, three sustained minor injuries and one sustained serious injuries. The cause of the crash remains under investigation and there is no additional information available at the moment.
