WEST WINDSOR – PRINCETON JUNCTION, NJ (MERCER)–NJ Transit Police, Amtrak Police, West Windsor Police and West Windsor Emergency Services responded to the Princeton Junction Train Station sometime around 6:45 p.m. for a train that struck a pedestrian on the tracks. Initial reports stated there was a pedestrian on Track 4 and it was fatal. All train traffic was shut down on the Northeast Corridor in the area for the investigation. The fire department was dispatched to assist police light the scene of the crash.
The Northeast Corridor line resumed service around 8:30 p.m. and one-hour delays were reported.
No further details are available at this time.
UPDATE: Northeast Corridor Line rail service has resumed and is subject to up to 60-minute delays in both directions following an earlier pedestrian fatality at Princeton Junction. Westbound trains will bypass Princeton Junction and Hamilton Stations.
NEC train #3969, the 8:16 PM PSNY departure is cancelled due to equipment availability resulting from earlier pedestrian fatality. Please take train #3885, the 8:37 PM PSNY departure, and #3283, the 8:22 PM departure for service to Secaucus.
NEC train #3953, the 6:54 PM arrival into Trenton, is currently delayed due to a pedestrian strike at Princeton Junction. An update will follow.
