UPPER FREEHOLD TOWNSHIP, NJ (MONMOUTH)–Around 7:20 p.m. the Hope Fire Company/Upper Freehold Firefighters and Capitol Health EMS responded to a head-on collision on County Road 524/New Canton-Stone Tavern Road, west of Sharon Station Road. Upon arrival firefighters and EMS treated victims and an additional ambulance was called from Robbinsville Township EMS to the scene. Two people were transported to local hospitals for treatment. Firefighters controlled a fluid spill from the vehicles. New Jersey State Police is investigating the crash. The roadway was closed a short time for cleanup. No further details are available at this time.
OLD BRIDGE, NJ (MIDDLESEX)–Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone and Acting Chief Donald Fritz, Jr., of the Old Bridge Police Department announced today that an Old Bridge woman was arrested and charged with seven counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child.
On June 25, 2023, at approximately 6:40 AM authorities responded to a 911 call reporting a fire at an apartment on Cottonwood Lane in Old Bridge. Upon their arrival authorities located four juveniles who were left in the apartment unattended. Two of the juveniles were transported to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital to be treated for their injuries. The investigation of the fire is being conducted by the Middlesex County Fire Marshal and the Old Bridge Township Fire Officials.
An investigation led by Detective Anthony Mottola of the Old Bridge Police Department and Detective Daniela Castro of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims’ Unit revealed that Estela Onofre- Maceda, 31, of Old Bridge, left four juveniles unattended during the early morning hours of June 25, 2023, when the fire started. Additionally, information was gathered, and it was determined that Onofre-Maceda left three juveniles unattended on the night of June 23, 2023, into the early morning of June 24, 2023.
On June 25, 2023, Onofre-Maceda was arrested without incident and charged with seven counts of second-degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child. Onofre-Maceda is being held at the Middlesex County Adult Correctional Center pending the results of her pre-trial detention hearing.

As is the case with all criminal defendants, the charges against Onofre- Maceda are merely accusations and she is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
LAWRENCE TOWNSHIP, NJ (MERCER)–Lawrence Township Police reported that on June 26, 2023 at approximately 10:15 a.m., Lawrence Township Police Officers responded to Rider University for a report of a man that was shot with an unknown projectile.
Officers interviewed the victim who stated that while he was walking on campus, a car drove past him and fired an unknown weapon towards him. The victim stated that he was struck by a projectile on is right temple causing minor pain and discomfort.
The suspect vehicle and occupants were located a short time later on campus. During the investigation, a plastic camouflage toy gun that fires water filled projectiles was recovered. Additionally, a BB gun and extendable baton were also recovered.
Alan Morales-Garcia (19 years old) of Hamilton Township, NJ was arrested on-scene and charged with Simple Assault Negligent Cause of Bodily Injury, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon on an Education Institute, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon and Possession of a Weapon for Unlawful Purposes. Morales-Garcia was lodged at the Mercer County Correctional Center awaiting a Detention Hearing.
A similar incident occurred in the Quakerbridge Mall parking lot near upper level Macys, on Friday June 23, 2023 at approximately 8:15pm. That incident is still under investigation.

Hightstown Police Department, Lt. Benjamin L. Miller reports that the missing 14-Year-Old has been located safe.
HIGHTSTOWN, NJ (MERCER)–The Hightstown Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance with locating a 14-year-old missing juvenile.
On Wednesday, June 21, 2023, at approximately 7:32 p.m., a parent reported that their daughter, 14-year-old Emily Montenegro-Ortiz, missing. Emily was last observed at Hightstown High School, on the same date, June 21, 2023, at 12 p.m. Emily was carrying a black, Nike backpack and wearing a gray sweatshirt, black/red checkered sweatpants, and white/black Converse shoes, at the time Emily went missing.

HAMILTON TOWNSHIP, NJ (MERCER)–Tpr. II Charles Marchan of the New Jersey State Police, Public Infomation Unit told Midjersey.news that Troopers responded to a fatal motor vehicle crash at 11:52 p.m. last night, June 25, 2023. The crash was located on Interstate 295 north at milepost 63.1, in Hamilton Township, Mercer County.
Based on a preliminary investigation a Mercedes-Benz sedan was traveling north on I-295 in the area of milepost 63.1, ran off the road to the right, overturned, and struck a sign support. As a result of the crash the driver sustained fatal injuries. The identifacation of the driver is being withheld pending next of kin notification. There is no additional information available at the moment.
The Hamilton Township Fire Department responded to extricate the driver and EMS also responded to the scene.
