Fatal Motor Vehicle Crash With Pedestrian Reported In Pennington

PENNINGTON BOROUGH, NJ (MERCER)–On October 6, 2021 at 10:08 a.m., the Pennington Borough Police Department was dispatched to the intersection of West Delaware Avenue and Route 31. Officers arrived on scene and found that a white single axle Penske Box truck had struck an elderly female.

The investigation revealed that the box truck which was being driven by a 32-year-old male from Phillipsburg, NJ was travelling North on Route 31 and that the Victim a 84-year-old female from Pennington, NJ was attempting to cross the road in the crosswalk located at the south side of the intersection on Route 31. The victim entered Route 31 and the front of the truck struck her. The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Route 31 and West Delaware Avenue was closed from approximately 10:15 a.m. until 1:30 p.m.

The crash remains under investigation by Pennington Police Senior Officer Novin Thomas and Officer Johnathan Pauciullo and Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office Detective Sal Vaccaro.

One Mercer County Ticket Wins $1,000,000

Mega Millions Jackpot Rolls to $60,000,000

TRENTON, NJ (MERCER)–There was one second-tier prizewinning ticket sold for the Tuesday, October 5, drawing that matched five of the five white balls drawn winning the $1,000,000 prize. The ticket was purchased at Adriano’s Liquor, 634 N. Clinton Ave., Trenton in Mercer County.

In addition to the second prize won, three tickets matched four of the five white balls and the Mega Ball drawn winning the $10,000 third-tier prize. Those tickets were sold at the following locations:

  • Bergen County: Super Shop Deli Mart, 809 Franklin Ave., Franklin Lakes;
  • Bergen County: Quick Stop, 606 Midland Ave., Saddle Brook; and,
  • Essex County: Quick Shop Food, 463 Mount Pleasant Ave., West Orange.

Moreover, 25 players matched four of the five white balls drawn making each ticket worth $500One of those tickets was purchased with the Megaplier option, multiplying the prize to $1,500. Finally, 30,144 other New Jersey players took home $150,364 in prizes ranging from $2 to $600. The winning numbers for the Tuesday, October 5, drawing were: 07, 11, 18, 30, and 36. The Gold Mega Ball was 04, and the Megaplier Multiplier was 03.

The next drawing will be held Friday, October 8, at 11:00 pm. All New Jersey Lottery Mega Millions tickets must be purchased before 10:45 pm to participate in the drawing. Mega Millions tickets cost just two dollars; by adding the Megaplier option for an extra dollar per play, players can increase their non-jackpot winnings up to five times. Mega Millions tickets are sold in 46 participating jurisdictions. Drawings are held on Tuesdays and Fridays.


Edison Man Arrested For Hamilton Township Murder

HAMILTON TOWNSHIP, NJ (MERCER)–Mercer County Prosecutor Angelo J. Onofri reported today that an investigation by the Mercer County Homicide Task Force and the Hamilton Police Division has led to the arrest of an Edison man for last month’s murder of Dashawn Womack.

George A. Briscoe, 31, was arrested Wednesday morning in Edison by members of the U.S. Marshals NY/NJ Regional Fugitive Task Force, the Mercer County Narcotics Task Force, and the Hamilton and Edison police.  He is charged with murder, felony murder, robbery, and multiple weapons offenses.  The prosecutor’s office has filed a motion to detain Briscoe pending trial.

At approximately 8:20 p.m. on Saturday, September 25, 2021, Hamilton patrol officers located 39-year-old Womack in a parked vehicle on Rosalie Avenue, adjacent to Victor Avenue.  He suffered multiple gunshot wounds to the head and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Despite having been charged, every defendant is presumed innocent until found guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
