Hazardous Materials Situation in Trenton, Residents Near Tucker Street Evacuated

TRENTON, NJ (MERCER)–Sometime before 1:00 p.m. Trenton Fire Department responded to 1st Block of Tucker Street for a report of workers that struck an ammonia tank. Fire crews arrived and assessed the situation and worked to mitigate the problem. Due to the size of the problem the NJ Department of Environmental Protection responded to the scene as well Trenton EMS and Signal 22 Canteen Unit. Firefighters worked thought the afternoon and it was decided to evacuate the 11-story Bernice J. Munce Tower at the corner of N. Willow and Tucker Street as well as nearby homes. Trenton Police requested several other police departments to assist in the evacuation. Buses were also called to the scene to transport the residents to nearby shelters until the situation is mitigated.

2 Shot in Trenton; At Least 36 Rounds Fired on Spring Street

March 16, 2022

TRENTON, NJ (MERCER)–Trenton Police responded to a shot spotter activation of over 30 rounds fired in the 200 Block of Spring Street near Calhoun Street around 2:25 p.m. Two people were found shot and Trenton EMS, Trenton Fire Department and Captial Health Paramedics responded to the scene. The victims were transported to Captial Health Regional Medical Center in an unknown condition. At least 36 shell casings were found at the location so far.

Trenton Police told MidJersey.News that two people suffered gunshot wounds to their legs.

Trenton Police and the Shooting Response Team were on scene investigating the shooting.
