Tropical Storm Henri Floods Area With Up To 8 Inches Of Rain, Rescues, Evacuations, Road Closures

Heavy rains from Tropical Storm Henri flooded the area overnight with up to eight inches of rain in the Central New Jersey area. Many people traveling on flooded roadways were trapped in the vehicles and needed to be rescued.

Hightstown Fire Company reported responding to at least 10 incidents with the majority being water rescues. Hightstown firefighters rescued eight civilians who were trapped in their vehicles or relocated to the roof of their vehicles due to flood waters.

The National Weather Service reported that 4 to 8 inches of rain fell from the storm and that Middlesex and Mercer Counties were particular hard hit.

Flooding in the area of Cranbury-South River Road and CR614 Dey Road, several cars were submerged and local fire departments made rescues earlier in the morning. A house and business was flooded near the location.

8th Annual Latino Festival of Hightstown-East Windsor Held Yesterday

HIGHTSTOWN, NJ (MERCER)–The 8th Annual Latino Festival of Hightstown-East Windsor was held yesterday and even Governor Phil Murphy stopped by the event. The festival is a celebration of the arts and cultural traditions of Latin America and the Caribbean; raffle prizes, dance and musical performances, local artists displaying their work, lots of delicious Latin food and so much more was had.

20th Anniversary America’s 911 Ride Passes Through Hightstown

HIGHTSTOWN, NJ (MERCER)–America’s 911 Ride came though Hightstown yesterday afternoon on their way to New York City. This year the motorcycle ride is remembering the 20th anniversary of 911. The ride starts at the Pentagon in Arlington-Washington, D.C., proceeds to the memorial at Shanksville, PA and ends in New York City at the World Trade Center site.

Update: Trenton Man Killed In Ewing Shooting Last Night

TRENTON, NJ (MERCER)–The Mercer County Homicide Task Force and the Ewing Police Department are investigating a shooting homicide that occurred Saturday night August 21, 2021.  Police responded to Stout Avenue in Ewing on a ShotSpotter activation shortly before 10:00 p.m., and found a male victim unresponsive with multiple gunshot wounds.  The victim, 44-year old Aula Boles of Trenton, was later pronounced deceased.  No arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing.  Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Andrew DiStefano at 609-989-6406. Updated: Reports Of 2 Shot In Trenton, South Warren And Route 1 Near Kingsbury

TRENTON, NJ (MERCER)–Trenton Police are investigating a shooting that occurred just before midnight last night, August 21, 2021. The shooting was reported at the off ramp for Route 1 at South Warren Street. Police were seen searching the area and Kingsbury Corporation property for evidence. Police confirmed later this morning that several shell casings were found.

Two were people transported by private vehicle to the Trauma Center at Capital Health Regional Medical Center. Police were seen in front of the Trauma Center with a vehicle with its doors open and crime scene tape surrounded the entrance and the vehicle. Trenton Police confirmed that the victims are in stable condition.

No further information is available at this time and the investigation is ongoing.

Update: Trenton Man Killed In Ewing Shooting Last Night

EWING TOWNSHIP, NJ (MERCER)–Around 9:58 p.m. last night, August 21, 2021, the Ewing Police Department, Ewing EMS and Capital Health Paramedics responded to 1st Block of Stout Avenue for a gun shot victim. Upon arrival it was reported that it was an obvious death and that paramedics would pronounce the victim on scene a short time later. There were unofficial reports of around 17 shots fired at the scene. Crime scene investigators could be seen investigating the scene and collecting evidence. Ewing Police and the Mercer County Homicide Task Force are on scene investigating the shooting. No further information is available at this time.
